Can I supply my own cabinets and fixtures?

Yes, you can supply your own cabinets, tile and fixtures, and we install them. Our warranty covers the installation; the maker's warranty covers the item. Owner-supplied items work best when they are chosen and on site before work starts, and when everyone agrees in writing who handles damage, returns and missing parts.

Why homeowners want to

  • A sale or a specific piece they have already found.
  • Wanting control over every finish.
  • A family member's connection at a supplier.

All fair reasons.

The trade-offs to know

IssueWhat can happen
TimingAn item arriving late stops the crew; the schedule assumes everything is on site
Damage and missing partsSomeone has to inspect the boxes on arrival and deal with returns
FitCabinets sized off a brochure may not match the room as measured
WarrantyIf a faucet leaks, is it the faucet or the install? Agreeing who covers what avoids an argument
Rough-in specsPlumbing and electrical need the exact model's specs before rough-in

How we handle it

We list owner-supplied items in the written proposal, with the date we need them on site and the specs we need for rough-in. We check everything when it arrives. Our work is covered by a 2-year workmanship warranty, in writing; the item itself is covered by its maker's warranty.

Good items to supply yourself

Light fixtures, mirrors, cabinet hardware, faucets and some tile are usually easy. Cabinets and stone counters are harder because they depend on exact measurements; we'll talk through it at the design visit.
